Disney has reported that the much-advertised Willow television series won’t return for a season briefly. Due to Lucasfilm’s recent focus on Star Wars shows, the eight-episode series will not continue. This may be familiar to some viewers, as it is based on Ron Howard’s 1988 fantasy film. The television series began airing in November last year and ended in January. The information comes as Disney CEO Bob Iger recently stated that the streaming company is carefully considering Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios as marquee brands.
Even though the show was canceled, fans are still excited about what Disney Plus offers. With upcoming shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to. However, there is always anticipation for fans of the saga because Disney may revisit the property somehow. Warwick Davis portrays the wizard Willow Ufgood in the television series Willow, which takes place twenty years after the original film directed by Ron Howard. In addition, Joanne Whalley reprises her role as Queen Sorsha, and Elora, the baby from the original film, is present in the show. However, her identity is kept a secret to prevent potential viewers from being spoilt.
Most of the filming for “Willow” took place in Wales in April 2021. On November 30, 2022, the show debuted on Disney+, a popular streaming service. To increase profitability, numerous studios and streamers have begun re-evaluating their intellectual property and reducing spending on streaming content. This has led to cancelling several fan-favourite movies and TV shows, regardless of their current production state. Lucasfilm has been carefully considering which of its upcoming films should be the next in the much larger Star Wars universe for quite some time. If you want then you can stream it now on Disney+.
