Venessa Kirby will be starring in Ridley Scott’s upcoming film “Kitbag” as Josephine.
Originally, the “killing eve” actress Jodie Comer was selected to play the role of Josephine in the movie “kitbag,” but due to some changes in her schedule, she is unable to play the role.
Jodie Comer told The Hollywood Reporter, “Unfortunately, due to COVID and changes of schedule, I don’t think I can make Kitbag work right now due to a scheduling conflict,”
According to THR, the 28-year-old actress exited the role from the movie because of her West End stage production,” Prima Facie.”
Comer has to start rehearsing for the production in March for a limited engagement from April to June, while Kitbag shooting is scheduled to begin in January in Europe.
The historical drama film, Kitbag will revolve around the story of Napoleon Bonaparte and his love story with his wife, Josephine.
Ridley Scott directs it, starring the Oscar winner actor Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon and British actress Vanessa Kirby as Josephine, which was previously held to be portrayed by Jodie Comer.
The movie is scheduled to be released in July 2023.
Venessa Kirby, the 33-year-old British actress, rose to international prominence with her portrayal of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, in the Netflix drama series “The Crown” (2016–2017), for which she won the “British Academy Television Award” for Best Supporting Actress.
She was also starred as “Hattie” in Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) alongside Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham and portrayed the role of “Alanna” in the 2018 movie Mission impossible-Fallout. She will return to the Tom cruise franchise for the upcoming movie Mission: impossible VII, which will be released later this year.
In 2020, Kirby portrayed “Kornél Mundruzcò” in the film “Pieces of a Woman,” the film was about the degradation of marriage. For her role in the movie, she received an Oscar-Nomination.
It seems like the actress will now be part of Ridley Scott’s world.
