The American television series, The Chi, was renewed for its fifth season after its successful first four seasons.
In August 2021, one day after the fourth season’s finale, it was announced that the series would be returning for its fifth season, and since then, the fans have been eagerly waiting for season 5. However, no updates have been given regarding the show’s upcoming season.
Lena Waithe created the show, which premiered in January 2018 on Showtime. The show takes place in a suburb of Chicago, where a group of people has a profound impact on one another’s life.
After a brutal event that has impacted the whole town, the show explores the fallout. While carrying on with their lives, the People decide to watch out for one another’s welfare.
Rick Famuyiwa directed the pilot, and he also serves as executive producer with Common, Elwood Reid, Aaron Kaplan, Ayanna Floyd Davis, Justin Hillian, Jet Wilkinson, and Shelby Stone.
Season 2 of The Chi was aired from April 4 to June 16, 2019. Season 3 from June 21 to August 23, 2020, and the fourth season from May 23 to August 1, 2021.
The series also airs on sister network BET Wednesdays at 10 pm.
The show received favorable reviews from critics and currently holds 87% ratings on Rotten tomatoes.
The main cast of the series includes several stars like Jason Mitchell, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Tiffany Boone, Yolonda Ross, Armando Riesco, Barton Fitzpatrick, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, and Curtiss Cook.
As the details regarding season 5 haven’t been revealed yet, we expect it to be released sometime this year. We can also expect the previous season’s cast to return for season 5, there might be some new cast additions, but the cast isn’t also disclosed yet. Season 5 is likely to have ten episodes, as all the previous seasons have ten episodes each.
