The ‘Squid Game’ lead actor Lee Jung-Jae would soon be seen at the Cannes Film Festival with his world premiere directorial movie ‘Hunt.’

The film is reportedly said to be screening at the Cannes Midnight Screening Section next month. The film is among two others: “Fumer Fait Tousser” by Quentin Dupieux and “Moonage Daydream” by Scott Morgen.

The announcement was made on Thursday at a press event in Paris, the capital. “Hunt” is set in the 1980s and is a Korean thriller. Lee got caught up in this project and rewrote the screenplay for the same. Lee also stars in the film alongside Jung Woo-Sung.

The plot is him working for the Agency Of National Security Planning and hunting for a North Korean spy as, on the way, he unfolds the darkest secrets of his own country.

Lee has cleared in a recent interview that just because he is directing a project does not mean that he will quit acting; he had been a Korean star since the 1990s but had no luck in receiving any new projects or calls from Hollywood, he said that no requests or proposals instead if they had, he would have been happy to work in an overseas assignment as it would be fun.

However, just as the globe-trotting highest-grossing Netflix Korean series “Squid Game” hit the international box office and starred him, he collected multiple US Awards – he picked up awards at the 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards – and soon he became the most awarded star of South Korea.
Soon after, both Lee and the series’ breakout female star Hoyeon (aka Jung Ho-Yeon) were scooped up by CAA.
