Votes are finally being counted for the Rangareddy Municipal Corporation elections, and the results are just coming in for Telangana’s different local bodies. BRS is at the head of the pack for most votes across local bodies near the Hyderabad region, with BRS leading in 32 wards, INC just following behind in 27 wards, and with BJP leading in 9 wards as of this report. All in all there is a tight three way competition for the most wards.

Polling for the elections took place on February 11 of this year. Elections for 123 urban local bodies in the state of Telangana, including 7 Municipal Corporations and 116 Municipalities, and also for 2,996 wards, were held. Approximately 73% of the total eligible voters participated in the elections.
These elections reflect the current feeling of the voters concerning the parties that are in power. They also give a sense of what will be the focus of the local services in the future. The services will include urban development, and the building of roads, as well as the provision of clean water and to solve other problems. The Telangana Municipal Results and the What Previous Trends Indicate
The results in Rangareddy show that BRS has a slim lead, but the other trends show a broader picture across Telangana municipal polls. The latest statewide counting trends show that Congress is leading in the majority of wards and in many of the municipalities and corporations, has and is consistently surpassing both the BRS and the BJP.
In the urban bodies of Yellareddy and Kodangal, Congress candidates have received major wins, showing their prominence throughout the districts.
The BJP is still in many of the wards, showing their continuing commitment to the urban expansion of Southern India. The result in Rangareddy is a clear result of local variables that may go against state variables. Here, BRS is performing well while Congress is performing well in most of Telangana.
Counting is still continuing in areas of Rangareddy and the other municipal corporations so for now, the results are still determining the strengths of each of the parties in the governance of the local towns. In the next few days the elected representative bodies will meet to elect mayors, chairpersons, and deputies so that civic leaders will be in place by the start of March.
Local polls determine how citizens will be governed day to day in their communities. They also help politicians gain enough momentum for future state and national elections. Local elections analysts think that political parties will use these elections to determine voter focus and prepare for larger and more complex elections in the future.
