The Indian actress has put Bollywood on the global map and ruled the world with her dedication. She has starred in the iconic Hollywood hit Matrix Resurrections, the fourth installment of the matrix franchise, which was released after 17 years of the franchise’s last movie, the matrix revolution, in 2003. The film has a starry ensemble cast, and the fans love it.
The movie stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss and is directed by Lana Wachowski, and fans have been eager to watch the film while many have criticized the short screen time of only 8-10minutes Priyanka Chopra Jonas has in the movie.
Priyanka plays the role of an adult version of the exile program Sati. The character initially made an appearance in 2003 fill The Matrix Revolution as a child.
Recently the actress has reacted to the criticism about her short screen time in The Matrix Resurrections. In conversation with Asian Sunday TV, she said, “I think you are coming from something a lot of people from the south Asian community ask me. ‘Oh, it’s a small role. It’s not a leading role. Why did you do it?’ Because it’s the Matrix, and I play an extremely pivotal part. Even when I picked my roles in Bollywood, I have always picked roles according to the characters, and they are not necessarily always the lead. The lead is Carrie-Anne Moss, who played Trinity in the last three movies. You’re not competing with that, and I think it’s such a myopic and very small mentality to think that way,”
She also flashed a light on her career in Bollywood, where she asked people to look back at her career graph and choice of movies. Naming a few of them, she added that she chooses exciting work over screen time. “This is an ensemble of incredible actors, and I think by asking that question, you reduce the grandiosity of being a part of the playground of playing with such incredible people. You look at my career in Bollywood. Whether it is Bajirao Mastani, Barfi, Kaminey, there are so many movies that I have done that are not about me. I love playing with great talent. I love being on the playground with such incredible people, and I’m not very myopic when it comes to my characters, especially the Matrix!”
The actress’s mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, has also responded to an article on her daughter’s short period appearance in the trilogy hit. Defending the lengths of Priyanka’s role, she tweeted, “Crucial and pivotal…FYI.”
Along with her mother, several fans also defended the criticism, saying she chooses quality over quantity.
