Janet Jackson is seen talking candidly about her Famous star-filled family in the just-released trailer for her Lifetime and A&E documentary “Janet.”

The superstar singer is captured discussing her childhood in the video. Some of the challenges she has faced and the consequences of child molestation against her late brother Michael Jackson.

Janet responds to an interviewer’s question about how the allegation against Michael has affected her career, “Yeah. Guilty by association, ’cause that’s what they call it, Right.”
Michael was accused of molestation by a 13-year-old boy in 2003 at his Neverland Ranch in Los Olivos, Calif. After a publicized trial, the superstar was acquitted of all the charges regarding the allegations in June 2005.

Janet asks her mother, Katherine Jackson, how she feels talking about Michael in one part of the teaser. “I can’t,” Mrs. Jackson starts tearing up.
The video shows the ‘Control’ singer returning to her childhood neighborhood in Gary, Indiana. After her older brother formed The Jackson 5 later, he became an international star. Janet says she felt left out.
“There were times when I just didn’t understand where I fit in,” She stated.

The trailer features interviews with some of her old flames, including a tribe called quest frontman Q-tip, Jermaine Dupri, some of her friends Missy Elliot, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Regina King, Samuel Jackson, Tyler Perry, and many others.

“Janet” premiere is timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of her debut album “Janet Jackson,” released I’m 1982 by A&M records. The four-hour-long documentary has archived footage and a home video of the singer.
It will be simulcast over two nights on Lifetime and A+E networks starting January 28.

The movie is produced for Lifetime and sister networks A&E by Workerbee and co-produced by AEC. Ben Hirsch is the director for the same. Janet Jackson and Randy Jackson are also in the team of producers contributing to the candid in look singer’s documentary.
