Elton John is getting his personal Elton John Barbie doll. And while the doll will not look like Rocket Man, it will probably be styled in its likeness.
The limited-edition Barbie doll, which was launched on Mattel’s web site on Thursday, may feature a high and gaudy denim with the singer’s initials.
Her multi-colored “Elton” bomber jacket has sleeves and iridescent stripes on its hem. Even she will have rainbow-patterned platform boots, a purple bowler hat and Elton’s signature bright pink sun shades.
The description of the doll on the Mattel web site reads, “Elton John Barbie Doll is a daring collaboration that recognizes two cultural icons and honors the extraordinary art and honor of an extraordinary artist.”
So, what is the event?
The doll, which retails for $ 50, was launched at Dodgers Stadium in October 1975 to mark the 45th anniversary of the singer’s record-breaking two-day efficiency.
At the time, 100,000 viewers made it the most important live performance ever for a solo artist.
Elton John informed Rolling Stone, “Barbie is an icon in her personal work, so it is a real honor to pay tribute to my work and personal type.’ ‘I hope she makes followers everywhere fearlessly to pursue her very own desires and limitless possibilities.’
