Since Valentine’s Day is in the middle of the season of love, Netflix is introducing many new romantic series and films for users to enjoy. The recent releases include the Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher movie ‘Your Place or Mine’, the dating game show ‘Perfect Match,’ and the Indonesian future drama ‘Dear David.’

Shenina Cinnamon portrays Laras in the film Dear David. Netflix users may be familiar with Cinnamon from her work on earlier Netflix Original Indonesian films like Photocopier and Geez & Ann. Emir Mahira portrays David in the film, while Caitlin North Lewis portrays Dilla.

Dear David, directed by lucky Kuswandi, appears to be a good choice for ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ fans. The story’s main character is a teenage girl named Laras who writes a private blog about her dreams with a  boy named David.

A straightforward student named Laras had a crush from high school but lacked the confidence to be open with her feelings. The trailer highlights how her world changes from reality to imagination. She has a strong personality and high self-esteem in her fantasy life.

Seeing how she transforms from a shy teenager to an enigmatic seductress is amazing. Her life, however, is turned upside down when one of her friends publishes her passionate blog about her crush. When her little world of desire and passion is revealed to the entire school, life becomes challenging.

Dear David has a TV-14 rating due to their language, sensuality, and suggestive speech. Your high school students should be able to watch it if they have watched comparable movies and TV series on Netflix because it is focused on adults.

Dear David is scheduled to premiere on February 9, 2023, on Netflix.
