The story of Alma Quintana Solares, a law school professor, and her husband, Leonardo Solares, a judge, titled “Dark Desire” is a Mexican thriller drama streaming television series produced by Argos Comunicación for Netflix.

The series premiered on 15 July 2020 and its first season became the most-watched non-English title on Netflix, accumulating 35 million viewers in 28 days. The show follows the journey of Ama, a married law professor who spends a weekend away from home – a weekend that arouses passion but ends in catastrophe.

After the success of the first season, its second season was highly anticipated by fans and it aired on Netflix on February 2, 2022. The current season is living up to its hype and handling the biggest cliffhanger of season 1 that made the fans question, “Is Brenda still alive?”

It’s delving deeper into the problematic and formidable love triangle between Alma, Dario, and his brother Esteban. Fans get to see many familiar faces coming back to their beloved characters.

Maite Perroni, who is best known for her previous role in the telenovela Rebelde, along with Erik Hauser who is well known for appearing in the Mexican political drama Ingobernable are both in the second season as Alma and Esteban respectively. With the older cast, fans are also introduced to some new cast members which include actors like Catherine Siachoque, Ariana Saavedra, and Arturo Barba.

The latest season came with its famous blood-mixed waters and sex-drenched antics and streamed for 15 episodes. Characters that were left unblemished are back to handle more trauma and mysteries.

There are many questions like What is Lys’s relationship to Dario? Did Dario and Lys have their own tryst? that left the fans on their toes and begging for more.

In the opening shot of the latest season, we see blood clouds inside an ornamental water feature, staining it red. “Julieta!” Dario Guerra (Alejandro Spitzer) crashes through the police tape. “No! No, my love! What the fuck happened?!”

Dark Desire became a guilty pleasure for many of us and we fully recommend it to those who are fans of suspense-packed deliciously rich melodrama. If you loved 365 Days, What/If, Sex/Life, and Toy Boy, you definitely don’t want to miss this show.
