Daniel Radcliffe said that he and Helena Bonham Carter have texted after the Harry Potter 20th-anniversary special; Radcliffe revealed his crush on Helena Bonham Carter during filming.
“Over the last few months, I’ve actually texted with Helena a bit since the reunion,” Radcliffe told People on Wednesday. “I think when I’m back in London, we’re definitely going to try and hang out at some point.”
On January 1, During the special, which was released on HBO Max, Helena Bonham Carter presented Daniel Radcliffe with an autograph that he had given to her during their days filming the series.
“Dear HBC,” the note, as read by Radcliffe during the special, said. “It was a pleasure being your costar and coaster — wow, what a clever pun I made. Honestly, I’m still kind of pleased with that — in the sense that I always ended up holding your coffee.
“I do love you, and I just wish I had been born 10 years earlier. I might have been in with a chance,” the note continued. “Lots of love and thanks for being cool.”
Daniel Radcliffe was about 17 years old during filming for “Order of the Phoenix,” the first film where he and Helena Bonham Carter appeared together as Harry Potter and Bellatrix Lestrange, respectively.
Daniel Radcliffe told People that a highlight of the reunion was reconnecting with his costars as an adult, given his young age during filming, and realizing that they could “hang out” and have “adult conversations.”
“We were talking about people that are known to be brilliant or whatever, but [are difficult] and we’re like, ‘Eh,'” he said. “When you find a person that normal in the industry for as long as she’s been in it, who’s still not jaded by the weirdness of it, they’re very rare and cool.”
