As the title suggests, The Diplomat is a political thriller about a career diplomat who accepts a new position as ambassador at the US London Embassy. However, her new position, which she is not qualified for, hurts her personal and professional lives. In the meantime, a worldwide emergency is unfurling behind the scenes. Deborah Cahn, best known for her work on Grey’s Anatomy and Homeland, is the show’s creator. British filmmaker Simon Cellan Jones will direct the first and second episodes of The Diplomat. He has previously worked on shows like Apple TV+’s See, HBO’s Ballers, and Shooter on USA Network. Janice Williams, Russell, Jones, and Cahn serve as executive producers. Netflix studio executive Sebastian Gibbs is leading the project. Which stars, in all honesty, Brilliant Globe-winning Felicity star and Emmy Grant designated The Americans star Keri Russell.

The Synopsis!
The show will be a political thriller about Kate’s rise to political prominence. She is a diplomat, and her husband works in the same field. On the other hand, she is beginning to make a name for herself as his time in the spotlight diminishes. Because he was once the focus of her attention, it’s a dynamic that could cause problems in their marriage. They are also in the midst of a crisis on a global scale, and although Kate is progressing in her role as U.S. ambassador, the task she has been assigned is different from one she is suitable for.
