‘The Movie Teller’ is a Spanish language film adapted from Hernan Rivera Letelier’s award-winning autobiographical novel. The film began its shooting in Pedro de Valdivia, in Chile’s Atacama Desert.
The film follows the story of a life in a mining town in Chile’s Atacama Desert and revolves around Nathan, a European outsider who will earn the respect of the families he will encounter in the town through his restraint and diplomacy and eventually will end up in a relationship with a local beauty, Maria Magnolia.
Nansen will become a father figure to Maria’s daughter whose unusual gift for storytelling leads her to become the poverty-stricken town’s resident “movie teller”. The storyline will follow the struggles of the poor families who are unable to afford cinema tickets and how they will raise the money to send the little girl so that she can recount the story to the whole town.
We will get to see stars like Bérénice Bejo (The Artist), José Soza (Neruda), Antonio de la Torre (Marshland), and newcomer Sara Becker. And according to the reports, the Marvel alum Daniel Bruhl has also joined this star cast. The Captain America famed actor, who was previously seen in ‘Rush’ as well, will be playing the role of the lead character, Nathan.
The movie is based on an autobiographical novel about life in the religion. The book was first adapted by Walter Salles and Rafa Russo.
Scherfig commented on Daniel joining the cast and said, “I am overjoyed that Daniel Bruhl has now joined our cast alongside Berenice Bejo, Antonio de la Torre, and Sarah Becker. His part is full of secrets and inner drama, also moments of warmth and humor. Adding his South American background, he’ll layer this character with depth and emotion,”
This film is a Spanish, French, and Chilean co-production produced by Adolfo Blanco of A Contracorriente Films and Vincent Juillerat of Selenium Films and Al Tiro Films. Along with this, Embankment Films is an executive producer and co-represents Latin American rights with Latido Films.
The official release date for the film is yet to be disclosed but the fans of the novel are excited to see how their favorite characters will be portrayed on the big screens.
