Luther: The Fallen Sun is a follow-up to the popular BBC crime drama on Netflix.
The streaming service anoints this new feature-length chapter, “an epic continuation of the award-winning television sage,” in which John Luther faces off against a rival from his past who has commenced taunting Luther while in jail. Fans of the series will be aware that John Luther will stop at nothing to bring the series’ sick killers to justice. This time, he decides to break out of jail to track down his new adversary, angering another detective who is determined to arrest him again. After being detained after Luther’s fifth season, he was tormented by a former killer. If you’ve seen the trailer, you know he isn’t going to stay locked up, as he’s determined to bring this new villain to justice.
The movie is a prequel to the actual, long-running British series and will conclude the story. It was written by Neil Cross and directed by Jamie Payne. It’s time to familiarize yourself with London’s fines since the movie will soon be released. Both a theatrical and digital release of The Fallen Sun is scheduled. On February 24, 2023, the movie will debut in a few theatres. Two weeks later, on March 10, 2023, Netflix will make the film available for streaming. Netflix commissioned a movie sequel in 2021 to continue the series, with Elba returning in the lead role. DCI John Luther was imprisoned at the end of the BBC series’ final season. Ironically, his unconventional but successful methods of investigation and seeking justice got him arrested. The Netflix film picks up from where the series ended.
