Apple TV+’s television drama, Pachinko, hit the streaming outlet on March 25, 2022. The show is based on an epic historical fiction novel written by the Korean American author, Min Jin Lee.

Justin Chon and Kogonada direct the eight-episode long series. Soo Hugh prepares its screenplay. The lead star cast includes Youn Yuh-jung, Anna Sawai, Lee Min-ho, Kaho Minami, Soji Arai, Kim Minha and Jin Ha.

The plot circles around the yearnings and dreams of a Korean immigrant family across four eras as they leave their motherland on an unconquerable quest to survive and prosper. The original novel takes place throughout three sections, which each begins with citations from the works of Charles Dickens, Park Wan-Suh, and Benedict Anderson.

Laced with prohibited love and crescendos into a complete saga, the story shows the expedition between Korea, Japan, and America. It illustrates the unforgettable story of war and harmony, love and loss, triumph and reckoning.

The show’s first season stands with an average rating of 9.20/10. Critics’ remarks read, “Intricate yet intimate, Pachinko is a sweeping epic that captures the arc of history as well as the enduring bonds of family.” Examining the show’s success, it is renewed for another run in April 2022.

The show’s second season will continue to tell a story of “war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning. The new season will continue the riveting story that spans generations and is told across three languages – Korean, Japanese, and English.
